Where It Works Best:
Good surfaces for mounting: The two recessed 1-inch magnets hold securely to flat, ferrous metal surfaces such as standard refrigerator doors, steel pellet grill lids, magnetic knife strips, and metal tool cabinets.
Surfaces where it may not adhere well: The magnet will not stick to stainless steel panels that are non-magnetic (common on many modern fridge doors), painted or coated surfaces with thick non-metal layers, aluminum grill bodies, or any non-metal surface. If you're unsure, test with a standard fridge magnet first—if that sticks, this will too.
Indoor locations: Kitchen refrigerator door, magnetic knife strip, metal cabinet, or spice rack with a magnetic panel—anywhere within easy reach of the stovetop or prep area.
Outdoor locations: Steel pellet grill lids, offset smoker fireboxes, and metal outdoor kitchen cabinets work well. Avoid leaving the magnet permanently outdoors in rain or high humidity, as prolonged moisture exposure can affect both the hardwood and the magnet backing over time.
Care & Cleaning:
Wipe with a lightly damp cloth to remove grease or smoke residue. Dry immediately—do not soak, submerge, or put in the dishwasher. The mineral oil finish helps repel light splashes, but standing water will raise the wood grain over time. Re-apply a thin coat of food-grade mineral oil occasionally to keep the wood conditioned and the engraving looking sharp.
